Chad: ARCEP checks the quality of telecoms services offered by Tigo, Airtel and Salam

Chad’s electronic communications and postal regulatory authority (Arcep) is currently conducting an audit on the quality of telecom services offered by mobile operators. The operation, which ends on 12 October, has been running since 12 September. It is the 11 th  of the kind that leads the Chadian telecoms regulator. It covers the entire national territory.

During the 30 days assigned to this technical task, the investigators check, among other things, the accessibility, integrity and continuity of the network, the call cutoff rate, the call failure rate, the call rate poor audible quality, etc.

According to Arcep, the results of this audit will not only enable the regulator to compel operators to provide better quality of service to users; to comply strictly with the obligations contained in their specifications, but can also serve as a guide for consumers to choose the best operator to satisfy their communication needs.

In the latest report on quality of service, dated March 2016, published by Arcep on its website, it is clear that Airtel has proposed the best 2G network coverage in N’djamena and other cities in the country. Tigo has offered the best quality of coverage on the roads.

In terms of 3G network coverage, Tigo has been better in N’djamena, while Airtel has been better in other cities in the country. In terms of voice, Tigo has offered the best service in the capital while Airtel has been better in other cities of the country. Finally, as far as data is concerned, Tigo has offered the best quality of service.
