08 Sep Ghana: Expresso to rebrand as Celltel by end of year
Struggling Ghanaian cellco Expresso is set to rebrand and resume operations as Celltel Ghana before the end of 2017, writes Joy Online. Kludjeson International Limited, which claims to be the original owner of Expresso, says it has taken over the cellco after a 20-year shareholder disagreement, which has contributed to the company’s decline in its number of subscribers over the years. Kludjeson has revealed plans to invest around USD300 million to turn around the ailing cellco’s fortunes as it aims to make the company a major force once more in the Ghana mobile market.
Commenting on the rebranding of Expresso to Celltel, Kludjeson Executive Chairman, Dr. Prince Kofi Kludjeson said: ‘The new Celltel is going to be the best company in Ghana because we are going to provide a Wi-Fi strategy. We are moving to all the districts and calling it One Village One Wi-Fi.’ Dr. Kludjeson added that major international companies such as Cisco, Google, Facebook and Apple are all involved in the process to implement the new Celltel brand in Ghana.
