01 Sep KT Rwanda Networks to Provide Broadband Connectivity Solution to Thailand’s Advanced Info Service and Botswana Fiber Networks
Korea Telecom Rwanda Networks (KTRN), a wholesale Internet service provider, has signed a contract to provide a high-speed Internet connectivity solution to the Thai telecom operator Advanced Info Service (AIS) , And the public telecommunications company Botswana Fiber Networks (BoFiNet).
KT Rwanda Networks revealed on 28 August that the agreement with AIS and BoFiNet was initialed on 21 August.
This is a contract that addresses the GiGA Wire solution that will increase the Internet throughput on copper cables provided by its companies to 1 Gbps. For the populations of Botswana in particular, this solution will improve their access to higher throughput and contribute to more innovation in the country which still has a broadband Internet penetration rate of less than 30%.
The signing by KT Rwanda Networks with AIS and BoFiNet of the contract to improve their data connectivity via the Internet solution Giga Wire is in line with its ambitions of African and global expansion. In order to achieve this international dimension, the joint venture formed in 2013 by the Government of Rwanda, with a 49% shareholder, and the telecoms group Korea Telecom, which owns 51% of the shares, had changed in July 2016. Name of Olleh Rwanda Network (ORN) for KT Rwanda Networks.
