11 Jan South Africa: Virgin Mobile offers free data and WhatsApp to new customers
Virgin Mobile has announced the launch of its Data Boost promotion, which will see new subscribers rewarded with free data, on-net calls and WhatsApp when they recharge on the network. This promotion is the latest attempt of a telecommunications company in South Africa offering data rewards to combat the #DataMustFall campaign, which looks to drive down the exorbitant price of data in South Africa.
“All you need to do is grab a free SIM card, RICA it, recharge with R50, R100, or R200, and you will get the equivalent amount of airtime, free V2V calls, free WhatsApp and the equivalent amount of data for 3 months,” said Virgin Mobile.
How it works
The Data Boost promotion will kick in when a new customer recharges with the qualifying airtime amount, they will then receive the first month’s data allocation. The customer will then receive the same amount of qualifying data automatically on the same date for the next two months.
The Data Boost promotion is only available to new subscribers, and will run until 31 March 2018.
