Afrimax, the owner of wireless broadband operator Vodafone Zambia, has issued a statement saying that the company will have a change of ownership, Lusaka Times reported, although no further details were forthcoming. The Zambian operator has kept usage of the branding of former partner Vodafone Group, although it was unconfirmed if this situation would continue in the brief statement, which simply announced ‘structural changes including new ownership of Vodafone Zambia’.
The Afrimax Group has been shrinking recently: in February this year, Afrimax Uganda (previously Vodafone Uganda) entered bankruptcy, and in the same month Afrimax Group sold its Ghanaian subsidiary, BusyInternet. Earlier, in November 2017 Afrimax closed down its Vodafone-branded TD-LTE business in Cameroon.
