The Minister of Post, Telecommunications, Technology and Digital, Houda-Imane Faraoun, revealed on January 13, 2019 that the Algerian Telecom group will invest at least 207 billion Algerian dinars (US $1.7 billion) in telecoms during the year 2019.

Speaking on Channel III radio’s “Guest of the Editor” broadcast , the minister said 184 billion dinars (US $ 1.7 Billion) will be used to clean up Algiers’ urban network. , broadband Internet investment in residential fiber optics, the finalization of new submarine cables and the acquisition of satellite equipment.

According to the minister, the deployment of telecom equipment in remote areas is not included in this envelope. This will be supported by the universal service.

Other investments, worth 23 billion dinars (194,969,086 US dollars), will be used for non-technical investments. Half of this will be used to train existing staff, but also to prepare the next generation. 

The minister said that between 2014 and 2018, the Algerian Telecom group has invested 294 billion dinars (US $ 2,492,213,544) in all its subsidiaries: Mobilis, Algeria Telecom, ATS for the acquisition of equipment to improve the services.
