The South African telecom group MTN has signed a five-year contract with the Swedish technology company Ericsson for the deployment of new products and the provision of managed services for Mobile Money in 13 countries in Africa and the Middle East. MTN Group reports that the Ericsson Wallet platform will allow users to keep, transfer and withdraw money, pay merchants and utility providers, and use financial services such as savings and credit.
