South African state-owned entity Broadband Infraco and Google have partnered to provide pupils and teachers in remote rural areas with the skills to prepare for the fourth industrial revolution (4IR), reports ITWeb. Broadband Infraco was appointed lead agency in the SA Connect project to provide connectivity to government facilities in rural areas across.

Broadband Infraco said it has partnered with Google to provide training under it Grow with Google digital skills programme. It will be offered outside of the school curriculum. It will be provided in various district municipalities and will be free, using tools and in-person coaching, through Google’s Digital Skills for Africa and Developer Programmes.

Google has introduced various skills development programmes and to date has trained more than 3.6 million students across the African continent.
