Nigerian operator VDT Communications has announced the launch of 4G LTE-A services for personal and residential customers. Coverage is currently available in around 80% of Lagos State, but will be expanded to the entire state as well as to other towns and cities in phases, with the aiming of reaching 19 states by 2020. The firm previously only offered enterprise and business customers LTE-A services over the 2.3GHz wholesale wireless broadband network of Bitflux Communications.

Capped data plans are priced at NGN3,500 (USD9.7) for 7GB, NGN5,000 for 15GB and NGN10,000 for 30GB, while monthly ‘unlimited’ tariffs cost NGN18,000 for speeds of 5Mbps, NGN23,000 for 7Mbps and NGN35,000 for 10Mbps.
