Reuni in the Council of Ministers on 18 October 2019, the Government of the Republic of Niger has approved the acquisition of all the shares of the telecom tower manager Eaton Towers Niger SA, a subsidiary of Eaton Towers Holding Ltd, by its global competitor American Tower Corporation. This approval resulted in the draft decree transferring to the American Tower Corporation the license for the installation and operation of a passive electronic communications infrastructure in Niger, granted to Eaton Towers Niger SA

According to the Government, the green light derives from a thorough examination by the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Communications and Post Office of the ability of the buyer to meet the obligations set out in the specifications attached to the license.

According to the telecom regulator, “American Tower Corporation fulfills all the regulatory conditions, including those relating to its professional, technical and financial capabilities.”

It was last May that American Tower Corporation announced the signing of a definitive agreement with Eaton Towers Holdings for the acquisition of its Nigerian subsidiary. The transaction, which was subject to approval by local authorities, was valued at $ 1.85 billion, including debts. It reinforces the presence of the American group on the continent.
