The Ethiopian Communications Authority (ECA) formally launched on 22 October 2019 a public consultation on the forthcoming issuance of new telecommunications licenses.
The telecoms regulator explains that this operation, in accordance with articles 35 to 37 of the law on communication services, aims to collect contributions from all stakeholders interested in the opening of the telecoms market to competition. The ECA stresses that the public consultation responds to a concern for transparency and interactivity, for the best interest of the Ethiopian people.
The opinions recorded during this public consultation, which will continue until 22 November 2019, will be analyzed by the Authority in order to feed into the technical guidelines to be applied later.
