9mobile has revealed that it plans to roll out 4G network in 16 of Nigeria’s cities in the coming months.

Stephane Beuvelet, 9mobile’s acting Managing Director, Stephane Beuvelet, said that the operator had invested in a massive roll-out of infrastructure that is set to improve network efficiency.

According to him, some of the chosen cities that will benefit significantly from the improved network are Sokoto, Enugu, Eket and Owerri.

He noted that there had been a growing demand for data in the cities that had been identified for this 4G network roll-out.

Beuvelet added that 9mobile believes that 4G is an enabler for entertainment, doing business and solving problems in Nigeria.

In August this year, the telecoms company secured a $230m loan from the Africa Finance Corporation.

9mobile had said that the funds would be used for innovative product development and network efficiency for the profitability and growth of the company.

In a statement, the Executive Director, Regulatory and Corporate Affairs of 9mobile, Abdulrahman Ado, said that the company had received approval for the loan from AFC on the 23rd of August 2019.

According to 9mobile, the facility has been divided into two tranches and will be used to repay historic vendor debt, finance costs and for payment towards various quick-win capex initiatives.
