Korea Telecom Rwanda Networks (KTRN), the operator of an open access 4G LTE network in Rwanda, has launched a USD10 million upgrade project aimed at improving capacity and connectivity. A report from The New Times says that the scheme involves two phases; the first will involve a network upgrade and optimisation, while the second includes the deployment of faster LTE-A equipment in the capital Kigali and other major cities. KTRN, which is owned by Korea Telecom and the Rwandan government, has deployed infrastructure covering 95% of the population, with services resold by the country’s cellcos and ISPs.
