In Nigeria, StarTimes and MTN have announced a strategic move to distribute movies and sports content. In the move, StarTimes is set to offer its video on demand (VoD) content stable to MTN subscribers at reduced data rates.
Speaking on the tie-up, Mr Tunde Aina, the chief operating officer for StarTimes Nigeria said that “MTN subscribers will enjoy unlimited entertainment and video on demand (VOD) services at a lower data price than any other network in Nigeria.”
The content distribution plan has in it up to twenty-six live streaming channels including top European sports channels such as UEFA Europa League, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Coppa Italia. It also offers blockbuster movies, cartoon, news and documentaries.”
As for MTN, the content partnership is “a reinforcement of its commitment to providing exceptional entertainment content that will male subscribers stay” says Mr Scrinivas Rao, Chief Digital Officer for MTN Nigeria.
