Former CEO of Zimbabwean operator NetOne Lazarus Muchenje has filed an application at the High Court challenging the termination of his contract, The Herald reported. Muchenje had been dismissed on 09 July 2020 but made an urgent chamber application at the High Court challenging his dismissal, and an interim order was granted in his favour, suspending the letter of termination. After his reinstatement, he was immediately dismissed at three months’ notice.
In an application filed on 23 December 2020, Muchenje challenged his dismissal, saying the letter of termination given to him was illegal. Muchenje also argues that there is a court order barring the respondents from giving effect to a similar letter which seeks to terminate his contract on notice. He said that he cannot be dismissed on notice, as purported in the letter, under the terms of his contract as read together with the Public Entities Corporate Governance general regulations.
