The Nigerien telecoms market is disputed by four operators: Airtel, Zamani, Moov Africa and Niger Telecoms. At the end of 2021, they generated a total turnover of approximately 403.2 million USD.

Nigerien mobile network operators recorded a turnover (CA) of 245.4 billion CFA francs (about 406.7 million USD) in 2022, an increase of 0.88% compared to 2021. is what the Electronic Communications and Postal Regulatory Authority (ARCEP) says in its 2022 annual activity report.

During the year, Airtel (Celtel Niger SA) saw its turnover increase by 14% to reach 102.1 billion FCFA. Zamani posted a turnover of 58.6 billion FCFA, up 5.2%. Moov Africa and Niger Telecoms saw their turnover fall by 9.7% and 16%, respectively.

This is the third year in a row that the overall revenue of the four mobile network operators in Niger has experienced an increasing trend. Nevertheless, the growth recorded in 2022 (0.88%) is less significant than that of 2020 to 2021 (15.7%).

This growing trend observed over the last three years can be attributed to the growing adoption of connectivity services in a context marked by the acceleration of digital transformation. Between 2020 and 2022, the number of mobile telephone subscribers has increased from 12.2 million to 16 million. Over the same period, the number of Internet users (mobile and fixed) rose from 7 million to 9.3 million.

Recall that the overall turnover of the Nigerien telecoms sector was 278.6 billion FCFA in 2022, up 4.2%. This includes revenues from telecom infrastructure companies such as American Tower Company (ATC), Liptinfor, AFR-IX Telecom and Ninetec.
