Ezra Chiloba was appointed director general of the Kenya Communications Authority in September 2021. He was suspended on September 18 for alleged corruption.

Ezra Chiloba has officially resigned as Director General of the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA). The regulator’s board of directors confirmed, on Thursday, October 19, that it had accepted the resignation letter that Mr. Chiloba presented to it the day before.

This resignation comes exactly one month after Mr. Chiloba was suspended from his functions, notably for having granted himself a mortgage loan of 25 million Kenyan shillings (approximately 170,000 USD) without first submitting it for review and approval by a higher authority as required by procedure. Christopher Wambua, director of communications and public affairs, has been appointed as interim director.

Ezra Chiloba was appointed Director General of the Kenya Communications Authority in September 2021, replacing Mercy Wanjau. Before that, he was the Director General of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEBC).
