Mauritius: CEO of Mauritius Telecom, Announces the Next Launch of Mobile Money

Sherry Singh, Mauritius Telecom (MT) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Mauritius incumbent, announced on April 24, 2019, the upcoming launch of Mobile Money by the telecom company. He spoke on the subject on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the 39 th conference of the Southern Africa Telecommunications Association (SATA) of which he is the new president for the period 2019-2020.

“For Mobile Money, we are going in the right direction. It will be a surprise. It will be introduced disruptively and wants to be a modern service (…) Mobile money, which is appropriate in the Mauritian context, will explode the market, “ said Sherry Singh who also sees an expansion of Mauritius Telecom.

“I will study the prospects to see how to go outside, especially since the market of Mauritius Telecom is quite mature. MT’s role is to help other operators. The fact is that when a model is successful, here it can be implemented elsewhere (…) The technology itself is useless if it does not bring anything for the country. Technology is valuable when it creates value for society, “explained the CEO of Mauritius Telecom.
