Bharti Airtel’s profit nearly doubles in March quarter

Indian operator Bharti Airtel saw its revenues reach INR 206.02 billion in its fiscal quarter ended 31 March 2019, up 1.83 percent from INR 202.3 billion in the previous quarter and up from INR 193.9 billion in the three months to 31 March 2018. Profit for the 3-month period amounted to INR 5.76 billion, up from INR 3.82 billion in the quarter ended 31 December 2018, and INR 4.19 billion in the three months to March 2018.
Mobile services revenues in India grew to INR 106.3 billion from INR 103.5 billion in the year-earlier period. However, mobile services revenues in Africa declined to INR 55.11 billion from INR 47.31 billion in the quarter to March 2018. Revenues generated by mobile services in South Asia rose to INR 1.12 billion from INR 1.03 billion.
