Africa Data Centres facility in Nairobi officially becomes PCI DSS compliant

Africa Data Centres Nairobi, formerly known as East Africa Data Centre, said it now complies with the payment card industry data security standard (PCI DSS). It is the first neutral data centre to be certified PCI DSS in Nairobi. Along with the Uptime Institute Tier III and ISO 27001 certification, this is an industry-first in East Africa.
Stephane Duproz, CEO of Africa Data Centres, said the company’s office in Nairobi will engage more with the banking and financial services sectors now that it has formally met security standards for the payment card industry. The main aim of the standard is to lower the risk of debit and credit card data loss in the event of a security incident.
Dan Kwach, general manager for East Africa at Africa Data Centres, said that facilitating an environment where security and compliance are integral to everything is they key to its success. When it comes to security, every standard and measure helps. Ongoing compliance checks when done appropriately help to harden the environment, and improve the security posture of the facility as a whole.
