Mali: Algerian telecoms operator Mobilis has obtained a provisional global telecom license

The mobile operator Mobilis, a subsidiary of the Algeria Telecom group, has obtained a provisional global telecom license in Mali. On Algerian Radio Channel 3, Imane-Houda Feraoun, the Algerian Minister of Post, Telecommunications, Technology and Digital, has revealed the receipt to this effect of an official document by the telecom company. The minister revealed that the said document notifies Mobilis that its technical-financial offer has been approved by the Malian authorities.
According to Imane-Houda Feraoun, Mobilis officials will have to move to Mali in the coming weeks to negotiate the terms of entry of the telecom company into the Malian telecom market, sign documents and concretize the latest steps, including financial , and start construction work of the network. With the global license, Mobilis will be able to offer 2G, 3G and 4G services on the Malian telecom market.
It’s since 2018 that Mobilis is in the running for the acquisition of the 4th mobile license of Mali. The entry of the telecom company into the neighboring telecoms market is only an expression of the Algerian Telecom Group’s plans for African expansion, which also intends to make its satellite a tool for conquering several markets in the continent. from Niger or from Mauritania.
At the launch of the call for expression of interest for the 4th mobile license of Mali, Arouna Modibo Toure, then Malian Minister of the Digital Economy and Communication, explained that the state wanted to boost the telecom market through this operation would strengthen investments in communication infrastructure and the provision of new services; improve the geographical coverage of the national territory and the accessibility of the population to telecommunications services; create additional resources for other sectors of the national economy; create direct and indirect jobs.
