Congo: for 2020 and 2021, the government will audit the management of the Central Africa Backbone project


The government of the Republic of Congo, through its Post and Telecommunications Ministry, has decided to pay more attention to the conduct of the national component of the Central African fiber optic backbone project ( Central Africa Backbone). For the years 2020 and 2021, the State has decided that an administrative, financial and accounting audit will be carried out at the end of each year. On April 17, a notice of expression of interest was also launched for the recruitment of the firm which will be responsible for this mission.

According to the Congolese Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, it is expected that the cabinet which will be recruited express an opinion supported by convincing data on the management of resources allocated to the CAB-Congo project at the end of each fiscal year, after review of the statements financial statements of expenditure and special accounts of all resources received by the CAB project, both from donors and from the Congolese state counterpart. Expressions of interest are expected until May 5.

According to Michel Ngakala, the interim coordinator of the coordination unit of the CAB-Congo project, the Republic of Congo will use part of the funding granted by donors to cover the cost of the CAB-Congo project in order to provide the services of the firm that will carry out the audits.
