Angola: Inacom Maps Out Telecommunications Antennas

Luanda — The Angolan Communications Institute (INACOM) started a register of the country’s existing telecommunications infrastructures in order to check their compliance with national and international technical standards and update its database.
The register also aims to identify open technical infrastructures for sharing them between telecommunications operators, according to the “regulation on the legal regime applicable to infrastructures capable of hosting Electronic Communications Networks that can be shared by electronic communications operators.
Speaking to the press at the end of a field activity, Joaquim Muhongo, an INACOM technician, explained that the registration started Friday in Luanda will extend throughout the country, also aiming to know how many exist and where they are located.
According to the technician, this process aims to rationalise investment in electronic communications, avoiding unnecessary duplication or allowing investment to be channelled into extending coverage to areas not yet covered by the improvement in service.
He also stressed that the regulation on electronic communications networks that can be shared by electronic communications operators ensures a better price and quality relationship for the final consumer of electronic communications.
