Ethiopia to host a national Tier 3 certified data center soon

Its preliminary design is complete. The Ministry of Innovation and Technology is now planning to hire the company with which it will sign a design-build contract. The related call for tenders will be launched this September, according to Minister Ahmedin Mohammed.
The national data center is expected to be built in the ICT park, located near the Bole Lemi industrial park. It will store and secure all public and private information and statistics. It will serve as the primary tool for the e-government solution, offering cloud, colocation and hosting services to better manage business applications.
Although the country already has many data centers, both on the private and government side, the Minister of Innovation and Technology believes that these scattered resources are not able to effectively support the digital economy towards which the government is tending.
