Mali: Hamadoun Touré appointed Minister of Communication and Digital Economy of the transitional government

Since October 5, Hamadoun Touré is the new Minister of Communication and Digital Economy of Mali. The former secretary general of the ITU replaces Kamissa Camara, Minister of the Digital Economy and Foresight of the previous government.
Former Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Hamadoun Touré (photo), is the new Minister of Communication and the Digital Economy in the Malian transitional government, whose composition has been made public October 5, 2020.
Holder of a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the Technical Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications in Leningrad and a doctorate from the University of Electronics, Telecommunications and Computer Science in Moscow, Hamadoun Touré held the post of ITU SG position from 2007 to 2014 before being replaced by Houlin Zhao.
With several years of experience in telecommunications, Hamadoun Touré began his professional career in 1979 in Mali as technical director of the country’s first international earth station. He succeeds Kamissa Camara, Minister of Digital Economy and Foresight in the previous Malian government led by Boubou Cissé.
The new government is made up of 25 ministers. Its mission is to rebuild the State, organize credible presidential elections, fight against insecurity and corruption, and transfer power to a democratically elected president within 18 months.
