Sierra Leone: Africell targets 90% network coverage this year

The demand for connectivity has increased in Sierra Leone. Apart from cities, rural areas express more needs. Africell, which wants to take part in the new opportunities that are emerging, has decided to extend its telecoms network nationwide.
For 2021, the mobile telephone operator Africell has set a target of increasing Sierra Leone’s coverage rate to 90% by its telecoms network. The deployment of new telecom sites is planned for this purpose. The company will invest more in 3G and 4G infrastructure.
According to Shadi Gerjawi the Managing Director of Africell, this strengthening of presence across the national territory also aims to meet the multiple demands of consumers for quality telecom services at affordable prices. Rural areas are particularly the parts of the country where Africell’s presence still seems weak and where the demand for connectivity is pressing.
Africell Sierra Leone’s investment is part of the strategic actions planned by the Africell Holding group to strengthen its presence in its various African markets in 2021. Monday April 12, during the visit of several senior officials of the group in Gambia, Hussein Diab Ghanem, the Managing Director of Africell Gambia, was also delighted with the investment made by the group in the Gambian subsidiary during the Covid-19 crisis. It allowed the company to face the competition.
The extension of the network footprint planned by the Africell Holding group through its subsidiary Africell Sierra Leone will help to register new consumers in the country. For the subsidiary which occupies the second place in the local telecoms market, behind Orange, it will be an opportunity to climb to the first place of the market and to record higher revenues.
