By 2025, Isocel Bénin wants to register 10,000 new subscribers on its network in Cotonou. The company that operates in a data market contested by MTN, Moov and soon the SBIN is developing new strategies to attract many more consumers.
The private broadband Internet connectivity provider Isocel Bénin has decided to transform bars, bushes and restaurants into wireless Internet access points. On Monday June 28, he unveiled for this purpose the launch of the “SOWIFI” service, the result of the partnership with Société Béninoise des brasseries (SOBEBRA), a subsidiary of the Castel group. Through this new service, it will now be possible for consumers at points of sale selected by the brewing company to benefit from free Internet access for 30 minutes.
According to Robert Aouad, the managing director of Isocel Bénin, the SOWIFI project “ is in line with our values and our ambition, as the first private Internet access provider in Benin, to commit ourselves to allow access very high speed Internet for all ”.
“ Today, with SOWIFI, we choose to support the government’s efforts to develop digital technology and promote the digitization of its services because we strongly believe in the Internet as a vector for improving development ”, explained Sébastien Yves-Ménager, Director General of SOBEBRA.
Since last year, competition has increased in the broadband connectivity segment in Benin, sparked by the Covid-19 crisis which has increased consumer demand. For Isocel, which is battling with MTN, Moov and soon SBIN, the partnership with SOBEBRA reflects strategic communication on the transversal market niches of bars, maquis and restaurants. There are private entrepreneurs, individuals, young people, old people, women, civil servants, etc.
If for SOBEBRA the SOWIFI service will help to bring comfort to its customers in its points of sale and to retain them, for Isocel it is the opportunity to attract new subscribers who will be able to contribute to the achievement of its ambition of increase its customer base by at least 10,000 new subscriptions in Cotonou over the next three to five years.
