Namibia: MTC begins voluntary SIM registration campaign

Namibia’s market-leading cellco Mobile Telecommunications (MTC) has announced the start of its voluntary SIM registration campaign, which will run until 1 January 2023 and target the company’s mobile subscription base almost 2.5 million. Customers who have already registered their SIM in the past will not be required to repeat the process. ‘At this stage it’s a pro-active exercise we initiated to offer sufficient time and convenience for our subscribers to register early before the mandatory registration kicks off in January 2023 as envisioned by the regulator, the Communication Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN),’ MTC Chief Human Capital, Corporate and Marketing Officer, Tim Ekandjo said in a press release.
