Malawi: TNM launches FTTH plans

Telekom Networks Malawi (TNM) has announced the launch of fibre-optic broadband services for residential and business customers. The fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) service offer households fixed broadband speeds of 5Mbps, 10Mbps, 20Mbps, 50Mbps, 100Mbps and 200Mbps, while business packages offer rates of 20Mbps, 50Mbps, 100Mbps and 200Mbps. Coverage is currently available in seven areas of Blantyre and five parts of Lilongwe. TNM says its fibre-optic services are offered in partnership with backbone company Open Connect Limited (OCL), which offers national and international wholesale capacity services to telecoms operators, ISPs, broadcasters and corporate customers.
‘At TNM our goal is to provide enhanced experience to our valued customers in the digital ecosystem. The fibre packages will enable subscribers to be connected to super reliable fast internet in the process contributing to our overall vision of becoming Malawi’s leading digital services provider,’ said TNM’s Acting CEO Lloyd Gowera Gowera, adding: ‘Internet usage is no longer a luxury. It’s a way of life. It’s a basic need. It is offering efficiency and effective connectivity in various vicinities. Therefore, our fibre internet is designed to enable Malawians unleash their potential regardless of whether they are at the office or home.’
