Madagascar: NuRAN signs USD90m deal with Orange

Canadian infrastructure supplier NuRAN Wireless has announced a new Network-as-a-Service agreement with Orange Madagascar for the deployment of up to 500 rural networking sites in the country’s east coast by 2025. The partnership will enable Orange to extend its mobile network footprint in remote areas of Madagascar, and to provide more than a million people with access to financial services via Orange Money. The operator’s network currently covers almost 85% of the country’s population.
The ten-year agreement with Orange will generate over USD90 million in potential gross revenue at an approximate rate of USD1,500 per site per month and an estimated gross margin of 70%, NuRAN said. The project is expected to support 2G and 3G networks with a variety of site categories to cover different population densities and coverage areas. NuRAN expects to retain the ownership of the infrastructure after completion of the contract.
