YahClick has signed a $15 million agreement with Canar Telecommunication to expand its Internet offer in Sudan

The high-speed Internet segment has been a powerful growth driver for the telecoms market in Africa since 2020. The constantly growing demand for data connectivity has convinced several players to step up their investments.
YahClick, the satellite Internet connectivity solution provider, subsidiary of Al Yah Satellite Communications Company PJSC (Yahsat), announces on Monday January 30 the signing of a service agreement worth $15 million with the provider of Sudanese Internet connectivity Canar Telecommmunication Co. Ltd. This collaboration is strategic because it will allow YahClick to expand its broadband Internet service offer in the country and support digital transformation.
According to Ali Al Hashemi, Chairman and CEO of Yahsat Group, “ this agreement with Canar will allow us to support communities across Sudan with improved communications and other services, even in the most remote areas of the country .”
For Abdalla Saeed, Chairman and CEO of Canar Telecommunication Co. Ltd, this “ strategic partnership with YahClick will enable us to achieve the Sudanese government’s goal of accelerating the country’s digital transformation. By leveraging YahClick’s solutions, we will be able to develop the country’s digital infrastructure in a way that will allow our local economy to grow and prosper .”
With a population of nearly 46 million, Sudan’s internet penetration rate was 30.9% at the start of 2022, according to DataReportal. Broadband coverage is still highly concentrated in urban areas, covered more effectively by mobile operators MTN and Zain. But rural and remote areas still remain market niches to be conquered.
With the YahClick contract, Canar Telecommunication Co. Ltd, which already had an order book of $2.1 billion at the end of September 2022, sees the new year start under good auspices.
