Angola: Africell Adopts Covalense Digital Solutions Digital Business Support Solution
March 28th 2023
In April 2022, Africell finally launched its commercial activities in Angola, after several delays. The company is putting all the chances on its side to find a place in the national telecom market disputed between Angola Telecom, Unitel and Movicel.
The mobile phone company Africell Angola has adopted the platform of digital business support solutions “CSmart” of the technology company Covalense Digital Solutions. Said solution notably enables the telecom operator to accelerate the ongoing extension of its network as well as the adoption of its services.
“Africell’s growth in Angola has exceeded expectations, indicating huge pent-up demand in Angola for quality and affordable telecommunications services. Csmart has been a key part of the story so far, giving us a strong technical foundation on which to build our customer base in Luanda and Benguela ,” explained Faissal Abdallah, CTO of the company.
It was in April 2022 that Africell officially started its commercial activities in Angola. Since then, the company has been pursuing its deployment strategy, which is currently in its second stage. The operator’s services are available in the provinces of Luanda and Benguela and cover a population of approximately 11 million people. For the next step, the company plans an extension in the province of Lubango in the second half of 2023.
With the acceleration of its geographical coverage and the adoption of its services, Africell Angola is delivering on its promise to bring more competition to the Angolan telecom market with the introduction of “ new products that make a positive difference for customers ” . The company claims more than seven million subscribers. However, statistics from the Angolan Institute of Communications (INACOM) for the second quarter of 2022 attribute it 3 million subscribers for a market share of 15.5.
