Benin: Moov Africa and the internet service provider Isocel obtain the right to provide audiovisual content

The ISP Isocel and the telecommunications operator have asked the Beninese authorities for approval to provide audiovisual content. The media regulator has just granted their request.
In Benin, the telecommunications operator Moov Africa and the internet service provider (ISP) Isocel have obtained the right to provide audiovisual content. The approvals of the two companies were awarded to them by the High Audiovisual and Communication Authority (HAAC) after an agreement signing ceremony held on June 21. “Through these agreements, these two companies will distribute audiovisual content to their subscribers ,” said Rémi Prosper Moretti, president of the HAAC.
Obviously, Moov Africa and Isocel want to collaborate to provide a television service via the internet accessible from mobile devices. According to Omar Nahili, CEO of Moov Africa, the collaboration will allow the operator’s subscribers “to access audiovisual content from their phones at a derisory cost” . He announced many channels including those of the local TNT platform, “taken into account in the bouquet on the recommendation of the HAAC” .
While the other telecommunications operators present in Benin had chosen to launch into on-demand content, Moov Africa has chosen to bring traditional television channels back to the Internet. For the moment, no additional information has been given on the portfolio of accessible channels and the costs of the service.
