Gabon entrusts the construction of its national data center to the Indian company Shapoorji-Pallonji

Shapoorji-Pallonji has a proven track record of building digital infrastructure in Africa. The company has carried out digital projects in Egypt, Ghana and the DRC.
The Gabonese government’s plans to provide the country with a national data center are well underway. A memorandum of understanding was signed on Thursday June 29 with the Indian company Shapoorji-Pallonji for the construction of this digital infrastructure.
The signing of this memorandum of understanding comes about four months after the visit of a delegation from the Shapporji-Pallonji group to Gabon. On the occasion, the members of the delegation had offered the government the expertise of the company in the design, construction and maintenance of digital infrastructures, including those of data centers. She has already carried out similar digital projects in Egypt, Ghana and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The project to build a national data center is part of the Gabonese government’s ambition to make the country a digital hub in Central Africa. The plan to accelerate the transformation of the Gabonese economy (PAT) 2021-2023 provides in particular for the structuring of investments in digital infrastructure, the digitization of the Gabonese administration, etc.
The construction of a national data center is expected to strengthen Gabon’s digital infrastructure, improve data security and reduce the country’s dependence on foreign data centers. This should also help accelerate the Gabonese authorities’ digital transformation ambitions.
