Morocco will launch the 2nd phase of the National Plan for the development of high and very high speed in 2024

The National Plan for the development of high and very high speed was truly implemented from 2018. The first phase of the project was completed this year. It made it possible to connect nearly 10,420 areas to high-speed Internet out of a total of 10,740.
The Moroccan government will launch the second phase of the National Plan for the Development of High and Very High Speed (PNHD) in 2024. This was revealed by Ghita Mezzour (photo), Minister Delegate in charge of digital transition and reform. administration last week in the House of Representatives.
The new phase of the project will be financed by the Universal Telecommunications Service Fund (FSUT). It aims to cover 1,700 new areas requiring improved Internet speed or which are not yet covered.
The effective implementation of the National Plan for the development of high and very high speed in Morocco was carried out in 2018. The first phase of the project (PNHD I) took place from 2018 to 2023. It displays an achievement rate of 97%, having made it possible to connect nearly 10,420 territorial zones to high-speed Internet out of a total of 10,740 zones initially planned. As a prelude to the second phase of the project, the government has mobilized around seven billion Moroccan dirhams ($692.7 million) in 2022 to strengthen network and telecommunications infrastructure.
This initiative is expected to improve Internet quality and coverage in the Shereef kingdom, bringing services to thousands of additional people. According to statistics from the National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT), Morocco had 36.6 million subscribers to Internet services (fixed and mobile) for a penetration rate of 98.9% in June 2023. However, the actual numbers are expected to be lower because some people have multiple SIM cards.
