Ivory Coast unveils its digital projects for the 2024 financial year

Ibrahim Kalil Konaté, Minister of Digital Transition and Digitization of Côte d’Ivoire, presented the flagship projects of his department for the year 2024. It was Friday January 26, during the ceremony of presentation of wishes within the ministry.
The projects listed by the minister include the commissioning of 5,207 kilometers of optical fiber, the implementation of the new law on start-ups adopted in 2023, the increase in the coverage rate of 4G, the restructuring of the new post…
These initiatives are part of the national digital development strategy 2021-2025 which provides for 32 reforms for an investment of 2,000 billion CFA francs ($3.3 billion). Furthermore, the Ministry of Digital Transition and Digitalization was allocated 55.6 billion FCFA for the 2024 financial year in order to improve the quality of governance of the digital sector and ensure the digital transformation of the national economy through the integration of digital technologies into all activities.
Mr. Konaté estimates that the digital transformation of the economy should lead to an increase in Côte d’Ivoire’s GDP by 6 to 7 points and generate between 2,000 and 3,500 billion FCFA. For its part, the World Bank estimates that the digital economy will bring more than $5.5 billion to Côte d’Ivoire by 2025 and more than $20 billion by 2050, if the government and the private sector strengthen their investments in the five fundamental pillars of the digital economy.
