Algeria: Ooredoo’s turnover increases by 14.1% in the 1st quarter

The mobile telephone company Ooredoo Algérie, a subsidiary of the Qatari group Ooredoo, posted a turnover of 24.4 billion Algerian dinars ($181.2 million) in the first quarter of 2024. This figure represents an increase of 14.1 % compared to the same period in 2023.
According to Roni Tohme (photo), general manager of Ooredoo Algeria, this performance is the result of the company’s strategy focused on the extension of its commercial presence across the different regions of the country and the continuous improvement of performance. of its network coverage in order to adequately meet customer needs. During the quarter, the telecoms operator invested a total amount of 2.7 billion dinars.
Ooredoo Algeria was ranked among the subsidiaries that supported the growth of Ooredoo Group in the first quarter of 2024 with Iraq, the Maldives and Tunisia. The Qatari company generated revenue of 5.9 billion Qatari riyals (1.6 billion USD) in the first three months of the year.
As a reminder, Ooredoo Algeria competes with the public companies Djezzy and Mobilis in the mobile telephony segment. According to the latest data from the Postal and Electronic Communications Regulatory Authority (ARPCE), these two companies held respective market shares of 30.86% and 43.7% in the fourth quarter of 2023, compared to 25.44%. for Ooredoo.
