South Africa’s top ISP — Afrihost beats MWEB, Webafrica, and Vox

The latest MyBroadband Insights research report shows that Afrihost was the top-rated Internet service provider (ISP) in South Africa, followed by MWEB, Webafrica, and Vox.
The Q1 2026 research report is based on data from the MyBroadband Speedtest apps and web platforms.
These platforms allow users to test their Internet speeds and rate their Internet service providers based on overall customer satisfaction.
Between 1 January 2026 and 31 March 2026, users performed 1 million tests, which included 144,000 app-based tests and 860,000 web-based tests.
MyBroadband Insights processed this data to ensure accurate results and a true reflection of customer satisfaction. The score is reflected as a percentage.
The results showed that Afrihost was the top-rated ISP in South Africa with an average score of 72.7%.
It was closely followed by Mweb with 72.6% and Webafrica with 70.1%. Both these ISPs showed a stronger performance in Q1 2026 than in the past.
Webafrica bought Mweb from Dimension Data in 2023, and the two service providers have worked closely together since the acquisition.
It is, therefore, not surprising that these two ISPs have improved together. If the company changes something, it will be reflected in both service providers.
On the other end of the scale, Supersonic has performed particularly poorly. Its score of 53.4% was out of sync with the rest of the ISPs.
Online reports show that Supersonic, which is owned by MTN, has been facing challenges with service reliability and customer support.
There have been complaints about poor invoicing, billing problems, and people being left without connectivity.
These issues have translated into a customer satisfaction score which is much worse than the rest of the industry.
