Congo Launches Mapping of Critical Digital Infrastructure With World Bank Support

The Republic of Congo, with support from the World Bank, has launched an initiative to map its critical digital infrastructure to strengthen resilience against climate and environmental risks.
Led by the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and the Digital Economy, experts assessed the exposure of the country’s digital infrastructure to climate hazards and developed preliminary recommendations to improve resilience.
The World Bank’s technical assistance will focus on three areas: assessing and mapping digital infrastructure, developing standards and guidelines for energy-efficient and sustainable infrastructure, and aligning those standards with international best practices.
“This technical assistance draws notably on a mapping of the country’s main digital infrastructure and an assessment of its exposure to various climate risks, as well as a review of the policies, standards and practices aimed at reducing risk exposure and identifying existing gaps,” said the coordinator of the Digital Transformation Acceleration Project, speaking on behalf of the World Bank’s representative in Congo.
The initiative is part of a broader digital transformation strategy by Congolese authorities. In 2022, the World Bank approved $100 million in financing to support Congo’s implementation of the Digital Transformation Acceleration Project, known by its French acronym, PATN.
