Uganda: Airtel Uganda CEO set to move to India

Airtel Uganda has announced the departure of its managing director VG Somasekhar effective 31 March. Somasekhar expressed his desire to move to India, where he will continue to be associated with the Bharti Airtel group.
Somasekhar has helped build Airtel Uganda into a strong brand and was instrumental in rolling out 4G across the country, Airtel said. He has demonstrated great maturity in dealing with all stakeholders and provided robust leadership to the team in Uganda, said Raghunath Mandava, CEO of Airtel Africa. He rejoined Airtel Africa in August 2017, after an earlier stint in Uganda between 2010 and 2014.
No announcement on his replacement was made.
